Ferris Gump: the real life Australian Forrest Gump
When I got tired, I slept. When I got hungry, I ate. When I had to go, you know, I went.
WHO I AM
A 33 years old Australian, originally from a small country town inland of Byron Bay, called Kyogle. This is from this place that the story as started: since I’m a kid, I’ve always been inspired by the movie Forrest Gump. I grew up in a farm, where the letter box was 1km away at the front gate, and by the age of 5, I’d be running to it. I’ve always enjoyed running, so when I graduated, I obviously enrolled straight away in the Australian Army like Forrest Gump, where I could keep up exercising while working. I did it for 7 years. I’ve learnt a lot out there, notably, acquiring thoroughness and discipline in everything I wan to achieve.
When I quite the Army, I started to race more and more, in Australia and overseas, marathon, triathlon, and ended up in the World Championship in Hawaii, to become an Ironman. I, then, wanted to have a break from racing as they involve a lot of money, and started to run on my own, becoming one of he best Australian long distance runner! Running is to me a way to inspire people, towards a happy and healthy lifestyle. It’s like a free therapy. I want to help Indigenous kids to get a brighter future, and see a positive change in this world.
